00:01 Okay, let's go move some mountains.
00:04 I'll start by creating
three different mountains.
00:08 I don't really care much about what shape
they are they just should be.
00:12 Just distinctive enough
that we know that they're different.
00:17 So I'll, just create,
like, a more cohesive shape.
00:21 I'll go for three different
Alpine mountains.
00:26 You can see
they all have different shapes.
00:28 Let's take the middle one
and make it stratified,
00:30 because it'll be Alpine enough
and then have this extra stuff on top.
00:36 This is good enough.
00:37 We'll do more stuff. To this soon.
00:40 So to move our mountains,
00:44 the first thing we do is
we actually add a Transform node
00:48 to each of them.
00:55 Here we go.
00:56 And then our last one for this.
01:00 Then I'm going to take
all three Transforms.
01:04 And I'm going to press F8.
01:05 Or you could right click and select
you could select all
01:09 and then right click
and combine them into a Combine node.
01:12 So here they're all together.
01:15 I'm going to switch this to Max mode.
01:20 And what we'll do is I'm going to have
01:24 all these be different moveable ones
while locking the preview here.
01:29 So you right
click Lock Preview go here, press
01:33 Z or press the Gizmo button up here.
01:36 You take this thing, move your mountain.
01:39 Go to the other one.
01:41 Press Z again.
01:42 Move your other mountain
01:45 and then go to the third one and again
and move this one.
01:49 Actually, I would love for them
to be different scales,
01:51 so I'll go and Scale them
a bit differently.
01:56 And I just noticed that
the one in the back.
01:60 Oh look there are these edges.
02:02 Oh that's easy enough because here
you can just quickly select Thin edge
02:06 Wide edge,
something like that to kind of,
02:10 null it out at the edge.
02:13 It's fine if it's looking like this,
that's not a big deal.
02:16 There's a very easy way to deal with this,
which is I'm going to add a Ridge.
02:22 Since the preview was locked,
I'll unlock it there.
02:25 This is a very nice and low ridge.
02:27 And then I will
02:30 add it down here as another Port.
02:34 So it's included in this
since it's all being maxed.
02:37 And so that empty area has been filled.
02:40 If I feel this is not the right one,
I can just change the Seed,
02:43 get something flatter
like so go back there.
02:48 We have it.
02:49 And going back here you will see like,
02:53 yeah, these are different mountains
but they don't really fit that well together.
02:58 One of the things I want to do,
just because
03:00 the shapes will look cooler,
is I'm going to have all three be Strata.
03:04 So we have these cool uplifts on the top.
03:08 There we go up.
03:10 They also give it a fair
bit of directionality.
03:12 So another cool thing we can do
is go to individual ones
03:15 and rotate them.
03:20 So like there.
03:20 This one's going this way.
This one's going that way.
03:23 It's not really something
we see too much in nature.
03:26 But hey why not?
03:28 Maybe there's a tectonic line right here
sending both of them different ways.
03:33 And then the third one,
I'm going to rotate it just a little bit,
03:37 so like so.
03:39 And now with all of these
I'll go and create an Erosion node
03:45 high Downcutting
03:46 high Duration but low Detail.
03:51 And that's my result.
03:53 Now I can Lock Preview here.
03:56 Go down to one of the Transform nodes,
04:00 hit Z
04:02 and I can move mountains
04:04 and you can see how
well the erosion is responding.
04:07 I can go back here, add Coarse Sediments.
04:10 Give it a low Angle.
04:13 Very high Erosion Scale.
04:17 Again, very low Detail.
04:19 Maybe the Duration is a bit too high
because I'm losing some of the bulk here.
04:24 But again, go back,
04:26 press Z, move your mountain.
04:31 So this is a very quick and easy
04:34 way to craft large, complex terrains
by isolating different parts.
04:39 And then merging them like so,
and then adding Erosion
04:42 and other, effects on top of it.
04:45 So you're not wasting too much time
trying to make these too detailed
04:49 and, realistic.
04:52 You can do all that work here.
04:55 And so from the ground level,
04:58 there you go.
04:59 They may look like three isolated
mountain peaks from up here.
05:02 But then when you go down here,
you can see this is already
05:05 something really great
that you can use for a backdrop.
05:09 So I'll switch this to 4K
so we can see it in detail.
05:12 And in high resolution,
you can see we have this
05:15 beautiful mountain scape.
05:17 And heck, if you're already here,
I'll just quickly add a SatMap.
05:22 I find something with a little bit
more color
05:27 like so.
05:29 And add ColorErosion to this.
05:36 And let's amp up the settings.
05:46 And so they're very quickly able to color
this mountain scape.
05:50 We can easily do a lot more
just with a few different changes here.
05:54 If I add more noise
then it's not so clear.
05:58 Stratification spreads around a bit.
06:01 Then we erode it
and make it even nicer shape.
